The Extrema power cable was engineered as part of the exclusive TriKord Power® line, initiated by KBL Sound in 2018. We intended it to be a highest performance cable for the very best systems.
Ultra-thin monocrystal copper conductors of the unmatched purity and surface smoothness have been used in its construction. The total number of wires is almost 600 and gauge is 9 AWG. Their geometry has been optimized after years of experience with previous versions within TriKord Power® line. The conductors are grouped in three asymmetrical bundles in each of the three runs. The thickness of the cable is not just a visual effect, but a consequence of its HyperSpace topology, which you will not find in any other cable, except Himalaya PRO 2. The extremely spread wires and equally distant broadband shielding layers, combined with properly tuned mechanical vibration damping, allowed to obtain unique parameters. The package of dielectrics used includes Teflon, Kapton, polypropylene, cotton, polyolefin and air. The cable ends are top Furutech Fi-50 plugs with, among others, for antistatic purposes with nanotechnology, in which the contact elements are made of pure copper subjected to the α (Alpha) process, i.e. cryogenization and demagnetization. The body of Furutech piezoceramic plugs is armed with a silver-plated carbon fiber braid, and a damping and insulating acetal copolymer coating.

 
Despite its size, the cable is flexible and easy to apply, even if at the back there is not much space. We've also designed it to work seamlessly with any device, bringing a dramatic new level of sonic realism, spanning a wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling soundstage with unmatched resolution, dynamics and frequency extension. Of course, it will effortlessly feed any power-hungry beast, but it will also unleash the hidden potential of any analog and digital devices with lower power consumption. The scale of this depends only on the capabilities of these devices. Most systems will not need more than one or two Extrema power cables. You can start with a single cable in your DAC, preamplifier, or power strip to get more than satisfactory results.

Thanks to powering the device with this cable, the sound is fast and dynamic, with exceptional resolution, revealing the smallest elements of the recording, while maintaining exceptional musicality and without falling into analytics. The faithfully rendered timbre reflects the characteristics of the music being listened to, without losing its coherence in the plankton of details. But the most unusual thing is what Ekstrema does with space. It's not about artificially expanding soundstage beyond what is in the recording. As in a true holographic projection, the individual instruments become tangible three-dimensional solids, clearly separated from each other and each occupying its own space, instead of being just a point next to other points. This is the three-dimensionality of not only the sound stage itself, but also the participants standing on it, who materialize as people, vocalizing or playing instruments. ALTHOUGH THE KBL SOUND EXTREMA, at least due to the price, is intended more for even higher-end systems than mine, I could still clearly hear how much it contributed to it (and three of them contributed even more).

The presentation with Extrema is more energetic, fuller, more spacious and more engaging. What is important for me, the tested cables did not deprive my system of any of its advantages, and strengthened the mentioned aspects. The end result was a natural, engaging, free, musical sound with great, confident bass, bursting with energy, dynamic, and at the same time coherent and smooth. [...] The most noticeable difference was the filling and weighting of the lower midrange and bass. The point is not in an artificial effect, in adding something of your own, but rather, judging by the appropriate balance of the entire frequency response and the coherence of the sound, in releasing the potential of the source and, as a result, of the entire system. The tested cable actually gave the impression that the bass went a little deeper, that it was more powerful and freer.

As a number of recordings in which low bass played a significant role showed, Extrema also improved its differentiation and resolution. The sound was richer, fuller, with a better presented texture, simply more real, and therefore more interesting and more engaging for the listener. Also the dynamics, more (though not only!) even at the micro level, improved with the Polish cable, which directly translated into a more faithful presentation of the recordings and their credibility.

[...] the Polish power cable resulted in a clearly larger, open space with better gradation of planes and the location of individual, large, three-dimensional virtual sources. I observed how wide the sounds appeared beyond the spacing of the speakers and how far behind the line connecting them, but also how they moved from one side to the other.

Another element introduced by the tested cable, further strengthened by adding two more KBL Sound power cables to the system (for the preamplifier and power amplifier), was the higher sound energy flowing from each instrument, combined with a perceived truer presentation of their timbre and texture. This energetic aspect was so convincing that it seemed that this energy flowed directly from the instruments, as if there was neither the entire recording nor playback process along the way, which severely limits this aspect of the sound.
